Three Things To Inspire Your Weekend (18)

Quote of the day:
The closest thing to being cared for is to care for someone else.
-Carson McCullers

Elizabeth Diamond, a 40yr old mother of four girls diagnosed with cancer in 2014, and who passed away in April has had her children adopted by her best friend, Laura Ruffino of New York-who made a promise to her after her cancer diagnosis. Laura who has 2 girls of her own with husband Rico. Fortunately their community has reportedly been rallying around them and providing support to the family as well.

A new planet with similarities to Earth has been discovered by NASA. Named Kepler-452b, it is thought to be 60% bigger than our planet, and with a much longer, 385-day orbit around its sun. It is 1,400 light years away from Earth.  Above, an artist's concept compares Earth to the new planet.

Roger Federrer has visited Malawi, to see first hand the progress his charity -The Roger Federrer Foundation has made over the last 10 years.  It was set up to make a difference in early education in the poverty stricken parts of Southern Africa. So far his foundation has built 50 pre-schools in the country.

Peace & Love.

  33. It's so sad about the 4 girls. Even adopted, they'll always be without their mother. I love the new Earth-like planet. It's proof of what science has been saying all along - that statistics say there are many more Earth-like planets out there and probably some with advanced life on them. Have a nice weekend!

  46. A special blog to rest your heart on... So giving of a friend to take in her 4 girls with a passing promise....brave sound minded and giving of herself should be celebrated.

As for the preschooling in South Africa, it doesn't get any better then this, and to see the smiles on a learning face is told in this snippet of the grace of a wonderful man.

A wide open space a big leap indeed for man-kind!

I am going to enjoy my visits here, thank you kindly for your words left at my place, it a joy that one sees the beauty in salvaging the old giving it a chance to live all over again.
