Why Your Dreams Matter, And Why You Should Begin Now

Quote of the day:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
-H. Jackson Brown Jr.

One day you will look back at life filled with past events fading away into the distance, with a slight longing and yearning. Your eyes may even be filled with remorse for the things that you wished you had done, and for the opportunities that passed by you - of which you only gave a passing glance.

One day you will dream of the times that you wanted to try something new, but got discouraged by your own fears...got discouraged by those close to your heart. Someday everything will come into perspective, like the deep clouds t hat form on the horizon during a rain cloud.

One day you will remember today. The day you allowed your fear to overcome your dreams. Or the day you let your dreams overcome your fears. Your choice.

Have a happy July folks.

Peace. Love. Light*

  1. I fear nothing at my sea, I want something or I want to do something, I give it a go. When you've been in a hell hole, fear is pathetic.

  2. Couldn't agree more with this quote! Since returning from my semester abroad, I've been even more motivated to take risks and do what makes me happy. I don't want any regrets!

  3. True dat!

But I keep dreaming of Halle Berry being mad at me because she thinks I love Salli Richardson-Whitfield, and Janet Jackson is mad because she thinks Salli put her in the #3 position ! I would LOVE to live that dream!

  6. This weekend I am taking a bold step, leaving behind the familiar into the unfamiliar.Comfort for slight discomfort but hey..."I will go down with this ship and I won't put my hands up and surrender" because I know in the end it's my sanity and joy that matters.

  13. I have always followed my heart--with some advice from my head, but my heart has always had the final word. I can look back with no regrets--for the good or the bad things that happened to me. I am not haunted by the "what ifs" because I took the leaps and chances. I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for the reminder. And thanks for stopping by my blog. I wish you had "follow by email". Have a wonderful weekend! :)

  20. What an inspirational post...and so very true. I never stop dreaming because if you do you cease to have motivation for life.
I taught myself to paint back in 2005 at the age of fifty-nine. I would have lost many pleasurable moments of creating what I saw in my heart and soul if I hadn't had the "gumption" to try. This also applies to my writings and taking photos.
One doesn't have to be better than the best at what they do...they just need to be the best that they can~

  24. I've often heard this quote. I guess it's to inspire people who aren't brave. Honestly, as I'm in my 50s now, I can tell you I'm far more disappointed in the things I did and people I wasted my time with 20 years ago than on things I didn't do.

  28. First of all let me thank you for your comment. You are right about facing things and doing things before it's too late. Your best bet is to maybe accomplish 50%. You will always have some regrets. If you (the general you) don't, then congratulations! It has to be tough to accomplish all your dreams but that's no reason to stop trying.

  29. Ooooosshheeey Turn uP... King BlogoraTTi be making sense for days... I love this sir... loooovvvvveeetttt... You know yeah Oga Boss... at the end of all this ish called life Chief of staff, 2 things will linger on in our memories enroute and in the afterlife... 1. Gratitude for the ghen ghen choices we made... 2. Regrets for the choices we failed to make... It's amazing that in the after life yeaah, there might be memories... That's some scary ish eh... Truly sir... Today I choose to LIVE my Dreams and I choose to LEAVE my fears... Today I CHOOSE... as on the long run yeah... It's my choice that matters...

You see ehn Blogoratti... **scratches relaxed due ori go go ro hair... Once in like 1000 days ba... The brain in my skull aligns and then we draft up a quote... and one Eureka one came up yesterday as sent from the one who wrote my user manual... so here goes:

"I choose to live happy... so when I die... The good ol memories will keep my soul alive forever..." #ItcanonlybeGOD

King... The Choice is ours... Our life is in our hands (Will) not in our minds (Thoughts... Fears and doubts). Cheers sir... This was an apt read... :) and the crowd goes Yyyyyyyyeeeeaaahhhh mehn...

  30. So true. The trick is the starting of the new thing, though. It's hard to leave behind what we know for the unknown, even if that's what we really want.

  35. @Jan: Greetings to you, and what wonderful insights you have provided. I like the fact that you had the will to do what you wanted to do, while also realising that you could enjoy it while being the best that you can -without worrying about being better than the best. Great thoughts indeed, Jan. I thank you for your comment and for visiting!

@okala chigozie: Hello, many thanks for coming by!

@Lexa Cain: I understand your perspective, so the key is to really find a balance between doing what one wants to do, and making sure its something that can impact others in a good way- by focusing on the important things, friends and family that matter. Appreciate your comment and nice of you to drop by!

@LoveT.: Yes indeed, nice of you to visit!

@Duru Adolphus Jnr.: Great thoughts and I see your perspective is really improving indeed. Happiness as you've rightly mentioned is key, and our life is in our own hands -not anybody else's, and its up to us to decide how we want to live, on our own terms. Many thanks for your creative perspective, and great to have you on here as always!

@Liz A.: Great point you raised, it is indeed hard sometimes to try the unknown and go out of our comfort zone. Appreciate your comment and visit!

  36. It's a funny thing about life: you can never be sure what you're going to regret later. It's also easy to torture yourself over the road not taken. What is there to do except to live as best you can and make the most of the journey?

  37. This quote has a great meaning- why do we always limit ourselves and do so much less than we could? Wishing you a great weekend! :) xx Maja
