What I'm Reading Right Now (9)

Quote of the day:
Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.
-Mark Twain

My first book for the month of August is by a familiar author -one which I read throughout July. He is a great story teller, certainly one of the best. The book is part two of a seven series chronicle. The first in the chronicle, A Time To Tell by Jeffrey Archer was a wonderful read. I have decided to continue with the series and this second instalment is titled 'The Sins of the Father'.

The story continues from where the first part finishes -the ongoing story of Harry Clifton, and his attempt to escape the unforeseen consequences of a family scandal.

This is another page turner by Archer, and it definitely is an intriguing read so far.

What are you reading at the moment?

Peace and Love.

  3. Interestingly, right now for fiction I am rereading Mark Twain (Tom Sawyer and Roughing It). For non-fiction, I am reading a "Mark Twain and Orion Clemens: Brothers, Partners, Strangers" and N. T. Wright's "Surprised by Scripture" (I am also teaching a class on Twain's Western Years)

  11. Yesterday, I read a couple of poems by Ezra Pound. I vaguely remember reading Jeffrey Archer's 'Cain and Abel' one time. His own story must be something of a page turner too, if such a book exists.

  14. "The House At The End of Hope Street"... Magical, whimsical, but with suffering. Of course! How to have an intriguing plot, with only lightness and magical? Nope. Need suffering.

But still, I know, all will work out, in the end. :-)))))) Even 50 pages, from the end.

Wising you some whimsey and magic, in your week,
    Tessa

  24. Yes, Jeffrey Archer writes some good page turners. A seven part series sounds great, I love when you can read straight through a series.
I'm reading an old book by John Creasey, one of the Baron series, and these are real page turners too.

  42. Hello again...it's time that I visited one of my favorite blogs again :)

I love cottages because I live in one and have another one room cottage that is mine alone that my hubby and son built for me.

Well, anyway I am just beginning a book that I found at Goodwill...a favorite thrift store of mine where I buy many of my books. The title is "The Magic Cottage" by James Herbert. Some of the reviews are:

"A spellbinding tale of mystery and happenings."
    -South Wales Evening Post

"A modern story of horror and magic...will chill your nerves."
    -Guernsey Evening press

I cannot wait to get started reading...have a great day and happy reading to all~

  54. At the moment I'm reading GONE GIRL by Gillian Flynn. I saw the movie Gone Girl on the plane coming back from UK a couple of weeks ago, but missed so much of it.... due to tiny screen, interruptions, crackly headphones, uncomfortable seat, loud engine noise.... so I decided to read the book. It's quite a page turner!
