Ikea Canada is donating furnishing and furniture worth $180,000 to aid charities helping Syrian to settle down into their new homes. Ikea Canada’s campaign is accepting applications until March 31, 2016 from registered Canadian charities and the launch of the campaign coincides with Ikea’s Brighter Lives for Refugees campaign, where a portion of Ikea LED purchases go toward the UNHCR and UN Refugee Agency.

United Airlines flew children with serious illnesses to Santa's North Pole, with over 40 kids living with or recovering from such illnesses, took a flight to visit Santa at the North Pole. With the so-called 'fantasy flight', a host of volunteers from United Airlines made it happen, with onboard, flight attendants and paramedics transforming into singing elves and reindeer. According to the Chicago Tribune, United Airlines has been offering such special holiday flights for more than 30 years.

  3. Canada is getting behind the refugees pretty well. Yesterday, the PM and other important politicians greeted the arrival of the first refugees at the airport in Toronto.

  4. Inspiring stories, indeed, Blogoratti! I am mortified by the anti-Syrian, anti-muslim hysteria among some Americans. When we lose our capacity to see our common humanity in the faces of these desperate people and feel their suffering, then the dark side has won.

    The pond house is lovely, but I prefer to live on the side of a hill with a solid foundation. Are you a closet architect??
