Plans For The Week #39

Quote of the day:
When you have learned compassion for yourself, compassion for others is automatic. -Henepola Gunaratana

Generosity and compassion seem to me to more instilled in people's consciousness these days. We may understand this better when we are touched by the outstanding stories and efforts of others, in caring, in volunteering, their resources and time. We may even be touched by the mere fact that our past pains and sufferings mirror that of someone in need. In fact, you may not need to look too far, as you may be part of the selfless group of individuals doing their little bit to make the world a better place. Wouldn't it be nice to feel that we are all better, and living in a better world, due to our collective effort. One in which money and power mean a lot less, than generosity and compassion.

I hope you will agree that our society needs a lot more compassion. And with that in mind, I am going into the new week with the following goals.

Plans

1. Rise early. Ideally before the sun comes up. A great time to think, workout, and even do some slight reading before the burdens of the day creeps up.

2. Show More Interest. I hope to keep an eye on my nutrition, and well being. I also plan to show more genuine interest in others.

3. Read. What's a week without reading? I'll choose from my reading collection a book or more that suits my needs.

4. Fitness. I hope to spend at least 30 minutes every other day exercising.

5. Projects. Work on completing personal projects and reports.

6.  Feed. I hope to occupy my mind with clean, positive and great thoughts.

7. Dream. I will focus on a single dream, and eat, sleep, wake up to it.

Have you made your weekly plans yet? What would you like to achieve? Show compassion and generosity as well as kindness to everyone, as you go about fulfilling your goals. My warm wishes to you in this fourth week of January.

  1. My husband is organized like you are. I have items on a calendar but that's about it. Volunteering is important to me, giving back to the community which has welcomed our family and thankful for the country where we live. It's not perfect but it's free and peaceful.

    Have a great week.

  7. My dream and hope is much as the same as yours, Blogoratti.....that all sentient beings live compassionately together. That day will come.
In the meantime, I too attempt to be a kinder person each day with everyone I meet and see.

  14. I'm trying not to lose my temper so often. I face around two hours of commuting each day and sometimes I get very angry with other drivers (Who don't show much consideration!) But I'm working on letting it all slide past me, rather than getting wound up. It'll be better for my blood pressure! Good luck with your plans.

  15. A world "...in which money and power mean a lot less, than generosity and compassion." Now that is the kind of world I would also like to live in Blogoratti. A world in which you go to a party and a stranger says "What do you do?" and you say "I feed the birds and go shopping for the old lady who lives next door and I spend a lot of time observing the beauty of Nature. What do you do?"

  27. Getting up before sunrise is easy this time of year ;-) A typical working day of mine sees me leaving my bed at 7.00 in the morning, and it's still quite dark then.

  30. Great plans, "B"...and that quote is so true.
And focusing on a single dream sounds really good too. It is all too easy to have multiple goals and end up failing to achieve any!
A great post (as always), and truly inspiring.
    Many thanks.:)

  31. Compassion is lacking in our society, because we tend to focus on ourselves all too much, and forget about those around us. If we intentional open our eyes to the world around us, we'll become more aware of the needs of our society.

Thanks for the reminder to be more compassionate. Have a fulfilling week :)

  42. Your weekly plans are always admirable and seem so universal as well, B. While reading them, it's easy not only to identify with them but to think of my own. This week they include: calling or writing to those I have not been in contact with for awhile. Sending a surprise to a friend for her upcoming birthday and taking some time to just watch a movie.
