What I'm Reading Right Now #38

Quote of the day:
No man is a failure who is enjoying life. -William Feather

From my reading list, I am reading a book for the week by English Autor Victoria Hislop.

The book is a compilation of 10 brilliant stories, in which the author takes us on a journey through the Greek villages, towns and cities.

Blurb of the book from amazon:

In ten powerful stories, Victoria Hislop takes us through the streets of Athens and into the tree-lined squares of Greek villages. As she evokes their distinct atmosphere, she brings vividly to life a host of unforgettable characters, from a lonesome priest to battling brothers, and from an unwanted stranger to a groom troubled by music and memory. These bittersweet tales of love and loyalty, of separation and reconciliation, captured in Victoria Hislop's unique voice, will stay with you long after you reach the end.

I have enjoyed reading this. I found the characters in each of the stories quite unforgettable. With colourful portrayals of the average Greek life, it leaves a yearning for more. If you enjoy short stories, you'll find this an interesting one.

  2. So far, I've only read one of Victoria Hislop's books, "The Island". If you are interested, you can find my review here.
Short stories are, as poetry, not entirely my cup of tea, although I highly respect them as forms of literary art which require very special skills from the author.

Still reading Willy Ley's "Vorstoß in den Weltraum", but have started on a new book on my Kindle: "A little bit of everything for dummies". Very interesting mix of facts and tips about many different areas of life.

  3. There is very little in my life to "enjoy"... but, we do treasure those few things that are "good" ..."Misery" will make you thankful for anything "good"

  7. Here is another failure statement I'll find quite necessary to paraphrase.
__I never fail. I just conduct research, a basis
to compose a long list of methods... I should never use. _m

it's been a minute since I've been by. Sorry for the neglect. I've been instagramming mostly, my eldest daughter bombarded me into creating an account.

What am reading right now: How To Make Love To A Negro without Getting Tired by Dany Laferrière. Provocative title isn't it?

    Have a great weekend.
    peace.
