3 Things to Inspire Your Weekend #51

Quote of the day:
It is never too late to be what you might have been.

There are some things in life that are never too late to undertake as long as there is time. Or better yet, its never too late to finally finish what you've started - in this case, the story of 94 year old Amy Craton, a great-grand mother and a fresh graduate, who put her education on hold in 1962 in order to return to work and take care of her children after a divorce. 50 years later, she's earned a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing and English -with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, from Southern New Hampshire University, US. She finally decided to complete her degree because it felt like the right time. Timing is certainly everything!

A mind is a terrible thing to waste, goes the saying. It certainly rings true in our daily lives and interactions. In India, 45yr old grocery store owner -Rajesh Sham gives back to his community by providing free education for slum children under a bridge, something he's done for the past 7 years, and with no seats or tables and a reliance on public support and donations only, he still manages to teach around 200 kids daily.

  3. I'm glad your back with your FRiday inspirations. This older woman was on our news, living here in New Hampshire, and I think colleges should make free education to people over 75 or 80 (here in the US) to encourage more people to follow in her footsteps. Happy weekend.

  6. Love the old Lady for getting her degree. The man dedicating his knowledge and time to kids who can't afford to go to school just shows how much people, in first world countries take education for granted.

  9. __ We are not able to congratulate Amy to a point that would fully praise her and... illuminate her accomplishment! Just grand_!
__ The Free School, under the bridge: A master teaches to a point where students begin to teach themselves; learning, then becomes the teacher.
    >Rajesh Sham the master, creating the desire to learn.<
