Quote of the day:
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
-Edmund Burke
People running scared. Shouts and screams. Running feet hitting the streets. Fear, danger and despair hanging in the air. Confusion, shock, disorientation. These are all too familiar scenes and it can be said that no city or location in the world is exempt. Only that some countries appear to have it worse than others. Extremism, bigotry and hatred. How does one replace apathy with empathy and love?
With tales of bravery by ordinary folks going about their lives just like everyone else. A policeman fighting off attackers armed only with a baton. Other brave people did what came naturally. Human beings...living, dreaming, and filled with hope just like everyone else-but obviously these same ideals are not shared by the perpetrators who have different and twisted morals. There is no justification to take a life -of a breathing, acting, loving human who is a child, a niece, nephew, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, wife, husband, cousin, colleague or friend to a whole load of other humans in this tree of life.
Different city. Same extremism. This time closer to home -again. London City. To think a few weeks ago I was in that area during day time, enjoying a nice walk and taking in the sights. When the news broke it was so surreal and dreamlike. It was really happening. Although it felt like it was thousands of miles away, and out of this world.
After all has been said and done, with incidents in different locations across the world tied to extremism, after the breaking news and analysis, after the curtains drop, after the show of love and support, and as the flowers wither, there will remain family and friends whose lives will never be the same again.
Peace. Love. Light*

ReplyDeleteIts a scary time. But we have to be strong and not let the cowardly way these people carry out terrible acts stop us from living.
ReplyDeleteTogether. <3 Blessings and friendship to YOU <3 Aloha
ReplyDeletePerfect description of the Cops (Sheriff's Dept. of Union Co.) ... Jerry Rushing, of Monroe wrote the idea for "Hazzard Co." ... Corrupt bastards... They "look the other way"... That is not "good"...
ReplyDeleteAnd they (along with this area,) have "condemned" me, Stacey...
DeleteThey say we are the "Bad-Guy"... (as "Scarface" said) We are the town "Boogeyman" ...!!!! (and our mayor is / was a Drug Dealer )

Hi Blogoratti - yes, I too have been to those areas recently ... so many people affected and as you say for what reason - why kill when they want to live. It is impossible to understand their hate - let us hope that is enough and we can all live our lives without worry - Hilary
ReplyDeleteThe quote of the day is just right. Well saying.
ReplyDeleteAnd the heart tree in the photo is very lovely.

ReplyDeletei was so saddened to read about this latest tragedy. It was the first I heard about it, because for some reason, it didn't make the news here in the states, which is sad.
ReplyDeleteYour quote and beautiful picture speak volumes. I was saddened when I read this and was glad you brought it to my attention. Thank you, too, for your words of wisdom.
Thank you for the inspiration to start the week. Have a great one.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all you said here, and your country is in my prayers. What touches others anywhere in our world, also touches us. The quote you started your post with says it all, and I hope we all believe it. I am glad you and yours are safe.
ReplyDeleteBlogoratti,
ReplyDeleteAs long as there's hatred, there will always be these senseless, cowardly acts against mankind. Radical, Islamic Terrorists do not think like other people. They see everyone who doesn't agree with them as the enemy. Countries who values their way of life and freedom need to ban these sorts of people from entry. It's a shame we all can't live together respectfully and peacefully but that's not going to happen in this life time. My prayers and thoughts are with the families touched by this act of violence. May God bless Great Britain!
Have to kep on pushing through and not let such hate win indeed.
ReplyDeleteThese are scary terrible times.
ReplyDeleteThat's very true.

It is indeed so very sad. I don't understand it at all. Your thoughts are moving and I love the image you chose to display.
ReplyDelete... appreciate your quote of the day.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Great quote!
ReplyDeleteWe risk , ( by some) to be sentimental and naive when we look for the positives in human nature at times like these
ReplyDeleteWe need to celebrate human kindness, bravery and courage
I find it very sad to read the news these days ~ But I have hope for the best in our humanity ~ Thanks for sharing your reflections ~
ReplyDeleteWhen terrorist struck the Boston Marathon 4 years ago, I felt as you did. I had been in the area a shor time before. I attended school in Boston and this was the area of the city I hung out in. I had never been afraid to be in the area. In the days that followed, someone came up with the slogan Boston Strong. They might knock us down, but we will rise stronger than ever. Boston Strong. Paris Strong. Manchester Strong. London Strong. The World is Strong.
ReplyDeleteIt is truly sad the world we live in now. That last statement is so true.
ReplyDeleteIt is evil, all of it...but good wins.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this. x
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, it won't be getting better anytime soon. This is springing up everywhere. Let's do our best to be alert and stay safe. We can only try.
