Quote of the day:

The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: 'If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?' But... the good Samaritan reversed the question: 'If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?' -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Ever since Jose Alberto Gutierrez from Bogota, Colombia, discovered a copy of a classic book while emptying the bins over 20 years ago, he's continued since then -in his job as a garbage man, to collect Bogota's discarded books. He has since amassed over 25, 000 books in a free library -all from his collections and donations from people. Now a whole floor of his house is overtaken by books -which he opened as a free library, with neighbors often stopping by to borrow books to help their kids with schoolwork. Although Jose never got past primary school himself, he has been dubbed "The Lord of the Books," and is in great demand from schools across his country.
