Quote of the day:
Don't allow your mind to tell your heart what to do. The mind gives up easily -Paulo Coelho
Chris Long, the NFL's Eagles defensive end is donating his entire salary for the season to educational charities in the three cities where he has played -Philadelphia, St.Louis and Boston. He is set to make a base salary of $1 million during the season all of which will go to these charities. He said he is doing it because he "believes that education is the best gateway to a better tomorrow for everyone in America". Long has been involved in charity and activism and two years ago started a foundation that supports causes such as access to clean water and fighting homelessness.

Brief:
Part of a house for trees series of prototypical house designs offering green spaces within high density neigbourhoods. The inhabitants are a family consisting of 3 generations -the challenge was to create a space to interact and communicate despite their differences.
Theme: Vertically stacked spaces with gardens visible from the exterior of the house. Bounded by sliding glass doors which act as a natural source of light and ventilation for each room as well as increasing visibility between family members. The roof garden also adds a natural feel to the house, a sort of vertical farming solution that suits and contributes to the Vietnamese way of life.

The idea to develop a sensor that detects lead in water is worthwhile and intelligent. I applaud the young lady and the football player who is donating his salary.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
It amazes me when kids come up with such innovative solutions.
ReplyDeleteI think it's classy that Chris Long is spreading his money around even in cities where he doesn't play any more.
ReplyDeleteThe young woman in Colorado shows that if we can set aside our prejudices of what we can and cannot do we can accomplish much more. She took a simple approach and came up with a workable solution.
ReplyDeleteThe football player is a fine example of a giving person. I'm sure his generosity will do a lot of good.
I am always impressed by these incredibly intelligent young people!
ReplyDeleteHere's to Ms. Rao - the sensitive, talented young scientist from Colorado. So heartwarming.
ReplyDeleteHere's to Chris Long - a multi-millionaire football player putting his MONEY (not just a knee) where his heart is.
And then there is the Binh House & the architects' respect for its inhabitants.
Great post, Mr. B!!
Two wonderful examples of caring, generous people...the world needs more like them!! And what a gorgeous house!! Have a great weekend!! Big hugs :)

Our Mind does Not give up "easily"... Grudges (some over 30 years now)... and the Fires of that Hatred are just a strong today...
ReplyDelete... Wishing you and yours a very pleasant weekend, good Sir.
A very intelligent young lady I would say, she will go far in life I believe.
ReplyDeleteNot know what to say to all this, friend B ... trying to get together my info for my 2017/ 18 nursing registration ... how many hours worked, how many courses taken, and how can you prove it and what is your learning plan for next year ... send this info and we'll send you a new registration number for 2018 ... if you do not comply, you will not be allowed to practice nursing in Canada ... Oh Happy Day, friend B ... cuz it's not all about lofty proverbs and some wisdom things in this life ... cuz sometimes its about hard proof documentation in order to make you live and work for another year ... just sayin ... just sayin ... Love, cat.
ReplyDeleteI am so inspired by Long's generosity. He is a shining light in an NFL league that would rather take a knee during our national anthem than actually do something positive for the causes they pretend to support. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThese are such good examples you've given here, an excellent 'inspiration' post.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend
All the best Jan
Smart young lady! She will go far! Good for Mr. Long, it's nice to see a high dollar income go to helping others. I didn't like the look of the house until I took a closer look and read the description. I'd like a tree in my living room that's not in a pot! Have a most lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot more Chris Longs than jerks taking a knee, but you hear a whole lot more about the knee takers.
ReplyDeleteInspiring! Happy weekend, B.
ReplyDeleteLovely post dear! Have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteThat is amazing about that young lady. She is going to do great things in her life!
ReplyDeleteGood to read a positive post amidst all the ranting!
ReplyDeleteWow, your site is always inspiring but these posts are just fantastic. I love the young girl finding solutions to a problem governments have ignored for years. I am also intrigued with the three level house for three generations, with green space. Very cool. It is always nice to "see" you, kiddo. Keep shining. Thanks for your visit to my blog. I have been distracted by the glory of where I am living, am hoping bad weather will come so I can get back to work, lol. (Meanwhile am enjoying the wild waves and the sun!)
ReplyDeleteAmazing an inspirational people! I hope that young lady gets residuals from sales of the device to fund her college degree.
