What I'm Reading Right Now (7)

Quote of the day:
In the light, we read the inventions of others; in the darkness we invent our own stories.
-Alberto Manguel

I am currently reading a book by English author Jeffrey Archer titled 'Only Time Will Tell'. I picked up this book to read on my way back from my mini trip last week and it has truly turned out to be a great page turner, and a fast moving one at that.

image: Amazon

The book is a first in a series that tells the incredible story of a family across generations and the events that shaped their lives. The story of Harry Clifton which begins in 1920, and that of his family. He never knew his father-a dock worker, and he was told that he was killed in the war. Its a gripping tale of heartbreaks, secrets and triumph...

I'm more than halfway through and can say its been a great read so far. So tell me what books are you reading at the moment?

  15. It is a long time since I read Jeffrey Archer's books, yet I always enjoyed them. I guess the gap through his incapacitation put his work out of my mind. I will look out for this book. Thanks.

  33. It does sound interesting...another book for my "to read" list :)

At the present time I am re-reading the true stories of the hardships of women on the westward journey across The American Frontier.

I have lent this book to so many of my friends who then asked me if they could lend it to their friend...so forth and so on...that it took almost two years to have my book returned. Its dust jacket is now showing much wear and tear and it seems to have been read in a shower or the rain because it is also weather beaten :)) I am truly happy that so many wanted to read the diaries of these brave and courageous women and their heartaches as they crossed this great country. Things I never thought of...such as burying loved ones and their children wherever they died and having to leave their graves behind them as they moved on.

    There are also photos included.

    Happy Reading...Jan

  50. Sounds like a good read. Currently, I am reading Here on Earth by Alice Hoffman and The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling.
Alice Hoffman is a strong writer, ties the story together well, and has many books published.
I am just starting J.K. Rowling's book, no opinion yet.

  53. I never really read 'books' anymore, which is embarrassing and terrible. I did go thru a period recently of trying to catch up on things, like Virginia Woolf and Faulkner.

Now I try to keep up with all my New Yorker Magazines. It's tough...I have a pile of unread ones in the bedroom.

    Kudos to you for reading!
