I am currently reading a book by English author Jeffrey Archer titled 'Only Time Will Tell'. I picked up this book to read on my way back from my mini trip last week and it has truly turned out to be a great page turner, and a fast moving one at that.

The book is a first in a series that tells the incredible story of a family across generations and the events that shaped their lives. The story of Harry Clifton which begins in 1920, and that of his family. He never knew his father-a dock worker, and he was told that he was killed in the war. Its a gripping tale of heartbreaks, secrets and triumph...
I'm more than halfway through and can say its been a great read so far. So tell me what books are you reading at the moment?

It is a long time since I read Jeffrey Archer's books, yet I always enjoyed them. I guess the gap through his incapacitation put his work out of my mind. I will look out for this book. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteI'm reading the Berglauf Journal 2015. Have just found a book titled The Yellow Wind. It cost 1 euro. Can't remember author's name, but it's about the historical 'thing' involving Arabs and Jews. See how it goes . . .

I am reading a (nonfiction ) history of the Americas by Jamake High water. It was written a couple of decades ago, but was well-researched and is quite lyrically written so it stands the test of time.

Sounds like an interesting read. I've not read any Archer. I'm currently reading an Elmore Leonard book of short stories. So far, good stuff.

ReplyDeleteAt the present time I am re-reading the true stories of the hardships of women on the westward journey across The American Frontier.
I have lent this book to so many of my friends who then asked me if they could lend it to their friend...so forth and so on...that it took almost two years to have my book returned. Its dust jacket is now showing much wear and tear and it seems to have been read in a shower or the rain because it is also weather beaten :)) I am truly happy that so many wanted to read the diaries of these brave and courageous women and their heartaches as they crossed this great country. Things I never thought of...such as burying loved ones and their children wherever they died and having to leave their graves behind them as they moved on.

I'm locked into a Balcacci story called The Target at the moment. I wanted a change of pace, so this was it. Like yours, it's a page turner, but with high-intrigue and aggressive larger-than-life characters.

ReplyDeleteSounds like a good read. Currently, I am reading Here on Earth by Alice Hoffman and The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling.
ReplyDeleteAlice Hoffman is a strong writer, ties the story together well, and has many books published.
I am just starting J.K. Rowling's book, no opinion yet.
