No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

An audiovisual and IT company has hired 28-year-old, Karrie Kemeling who quit her sales job, and later took an unconventional approach to applying for a job. After getting tired of sending applications over the internet without replies, she took her search to the street, standing at an intersection in New York with a sign that read "Not Homeless but Hungry for Success!! Take a Resume." According to her, an executive in the company had heard about her passing out her resumes on the street and sent someone to get one before following up with her.

It's ridiculous that college graduates are having such a difficult time now. I guess a college degree is becoming like a high school degree? So many people get it now, it holds no real value?
ReplyDeleteAnd you have them lined up in order of relevance. Excellent. I love that beach house. What a nice week that would be. Some good books and an easy chair.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ☺
that is a neat way to get noticed and get a job. Good on the men too.
ReplyDeleteYou're speaking always about important things, like it!

Courage and innovation, as exemplified by your first two mentions, are always inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThe house, on the other hand, would inspire long, slow thoughts... always fulfilling. =)
love your news today!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite quotes.
ReplyDeleteGood Sir, "acts of Kindness" is how I was raised to treat others ...
ReplyDelete"Chivalry" is all but dead .. and you seldom even get a "thank you"... but, we will continue to do kind deeds for and unto other till I die.... just part of my "nature"... often even to "rude" people
What a unique way to get a resume out there! Definitely shows outside of the box thinking. I also love celebrating people who put themselves out there to save and protect others. Bravo!

Hero is an overused term, but in the case of those four men, it is right.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool way to search for a job ;)
ReplyDeleteWell done to the girl for the clever idea!

We've heard about the brave men stopping the terrorist attack on the train while we were on holiday. Well desvered medals!
ReplyDeleteThe holiday home reminds me of the house that was used in "'The Ghost Writer", a film I reviewed here on my blog a couple of years ago - there is a picture on my blog post of the place, wonder if it reminds you of that holiday home, too.
As for handing out my CV on a street corner, I don't think I'd go that far. I'd be afraid of my personal details getting into the wrong hands.
Those guys who thwarted the would-be killer deserved the medals and more. I hope there are others who would be just as brave.
ReplyDeleteLove the "heroes". They are invited to come to Amsterdam!

@Andrew: I quite agree, and many thanks for stopping by!
@Beauty Follower: Yes its a cool and unusual way no doubt. Thanks for visiting!
@Librarian: Yes indeed. And as for the holiday home, I can see why it reminds you of the house in that movie -quite similar I must say. I'm not sure I'd be that brave to stand on a street corner handing out resumes. Its kind of you to visit, thank you!
@Valerie: I quite agree, well deserved award indeed. Greetings and have a nice weekend!
@Ella: That's a lovely gesture, and they are heroes indeed. Many thanks for visiting!

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. "
ReplyDeleteA great choice for quote of the day.
All the best Jan
An interesting and inspiring trio of stories.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame more builders/architects don't embrace the natural ways to cut down on heating/cooling/lighting costs, etc.
People of courage and deserving of honour. The vacation house is very unique!
ReplyDeleteMy choice? The beach house for the weekend. When is checkin?
ReplyDeleteAll great things happening to people who stepped out to help others or who took a chance themselves. I also read of a college grad trying to sell her degree on ebay for the amount of $ she took to earn it, unfortunate.
ReplyDeleteThose three guys on the train did a great job!
ReplyDeleteAnd she tried a different, risky approach, and it worked.
The resume girl is a go getter. I love her approach and it certainly paid off for her.
ReplyDeleteYou chose three prime examples to illustrate your point. The brave young men who saved the lives of so many people deserve all the honors they are receiving. The young woman who made her own luck is someone for others to admire. And the vacation home is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe concept of handing out resumes on the street is a daunting one, so I take my hat off to her! :)

That was such an amazing idea with the resumes. Effort always pays off in the end.

ReplyDeleteAnd that delightful Danish Vacation House...oh how I wish I were there! :))
Another fabulous post...many thanks!
Have a great weekend.:))
The first story had me in goosebumps. Good men! This post made my day, Blogoratti!
ReplyDeleteI like reading the news on your blog. Good vibes only! Just yesterday I opened up a mainstream online news portal and I got so overwhelmed with all the negativity, I couldn't stand it for more than a few seconds.
Good work here, do keep it up!
All these stories are so inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!!
Thanks for sharing - these are all great. Awesome for that girl who took her resumes to the street. I'm glad it worked for her.
