Quote of the day:
I climb into the dark for you. Are you waiting in the stars for me?
-Ally Condie
The past has a way of creeping up when we least expect it, often with a slyness and confidence -like a boxer waiting for an opponent to make a mistake. It all comes back in a flash. Memories, scents, emotions, love, moments, and not to forget pain.
You remember things.
You recollect events that should have been.
And things that shouldn't have.
You
smile when you remember the people who made you laugh.
The people who walked more than a
mile with you.
You start thinking about the choices you've made in life.
About the responsibilities, abilities and capabilities.
And more often than not...
If you were to go
back to the past...
You recognize that you'd do it all over again.
And again.
Peace. Love. Light*

Those are lovely thoughts. Yes, the past can bring back some wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteI know I wouldn't change much. Except to be nicer when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteVery good and interesting thoughts today, too true.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post! I also really love the quote you shared first. :)

Yes, indeed...I know I would.
ReplyDeleteIf I had read this before commenting on your tweet, my comment would have been different. The good memories are always worth reliving. The regrets need to stay where they belong though, in the past.
ReplyDeleteReally wonderful thoughts. Yhey are so true.
ReplyDeleteHave lovely times.
Yes the past can supply some good memories, but there are many decisions that I would change if I had to do it all over again. But regrets are exactly that, regrets, and what has happened cannot be changed.
ReplyDeleteEach day can hold precious memories for tomorrow - lets make each day count.
ReplyDeleteI do like your current listen of Ray Charles...
All the best Jan
bless you brother.
ReplyDeleteVery good thoughts for today. The past certainly does creep up on you at times.
ReplyDeleteI find the older I get, the more I reflect on the past - so often brought on by a song I hear. Amazing, the power of music!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!

I love that quote and what your wrote here. It's true how we all reflect on what we did and people we met and shared wonderful times with. Especially remembering the people who shared the tough times with you-that is the most special
ReplyDeleteWell written words.
ReplyDeleteThis has been my thoughts for a while now might still write about it.
The human mind is so tricky when it comes to memories - ask any policeman who has ever had to take a witness's statement. We filter, and sometimes that is a good thing. But it can also lead to unrealistic ideas about what our past really was like...
ReplyDeleteStill, our past experiences shape the person we are at present, and will be in the future.
Memories have a way of killing you, especially at night.
ReplyDeleteMemories keep me awake nights. I'm sure there are some things I would change if I got the chance to go back.
ReplyDeleteMemories have a way of getting into your thoughts every now and then.
ReplyDeleteWonderful thoughts and post. A great quote! Memories that make me smile are the best. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteI love the first quote by Allie Condie and Georgia on my mind too :)
ReplyDeletePeace and love, we all need them... :)

I like the boxing metaphor. There's nothing quite like a right hook to wake you up or put you to sleep , either way it's not something you'll forget in a hurry.
ReplyDeleteOh very great quote!
ReplyDeleteMy best wishes for you
xx

It is better to never go back to remember the memories that still haunt us, nothing can be done about that!
ReplyDeleteAnother great post.
ReplyDeleteBut myself, on the other hand.... there are too many things I would not do over.
I get to reflect all the time...there are some I would do over and over again and there are some actions I would never take if given the opportunity.
ReplyDelete...and there are somethings I would change.
ReplyDeleteHaha... I don't know that I'd do everything the same ;o)
ReplyDeleteI like that quote, though!!

Georgia On My Mind is a song I play every single day on the piano...one of my favorites. My daughter lived in Georgia..and her family is still there. Cancer beat her two years ago...
