Three Things To Inspire Your Weekend (19)

Quote of the day:
The bank of love is never bankrupt.
-Steve Maraboli

A 12 yr old boy in Salt Lake City, U.S, Mathew Flores (pictured above with his sister), who loves reading but couldn't afford to buy books or pay to go to the library, approached his local mail man, Ron Lynch, to ask for any junk mail he could read. According to Lynch, "He told me his wish is to have books to read. I told him the library had many, but he said they don't have a car, and couldn't afford the bus." Lynch then asked his friends on Facebook if they could spare some books. The request went viral, and people from around the world have sent books to the 12yr old.

Friends on the streets, a charity in Moscow, Russia, has set up a cinema to screen movies for homeless people in the city. Films will be shown twice a month with free snacks and tea provided at each screening according to the BBC. In addition the charity has also developed makeshift salons and sports events for the city's homeless.

  15. Wonderful stories! I especially like the one about the books. There are kind people in this world. We have free outdoor movies projected on a large, inflatable screen in our downtown area (right behind city hall) every single Thursday night in the summer (weather permitting, of course). All you have to do is show up. This is one of the things I love about this amazing city!

  24. I'm not a parent myself, but I imagine it must be a terrible feeling if you can not even afford to send your kids to the local library and depend on the charity of others to provide them with something so basic as books. Poor family!

Love the quote of the day. Normally, I'm not one for quotes, but this one is great.
