What I'm Reading Right Now (10)

I've picked up a new book to read for the week. Taking a break from Archer, and at my current rate I am indeed able to finish one book in a week which isn't bad -considering the fact that each week is often more busy than not. I spend about an hour daily on reading. I guess it also helps that I am a speed reader.

Moving on, the author for this week is John Grisham and the book is titled 'Gray Mountain'. I must admit that I haven't read anything by Grisham in a long while -I've lost touch with his most recent works.

Gray Mountain revolves around Samantha Kofer, an associate who lost everything she had worked hard for in a law firm, and begins a new life -far away from her past confronting real clients with real problems in a coal mining region.

Its definitely not a fast paced story, like his previous works but so far its a good read.

  4. I read some of his earlier works...they all began to seem alike! It sounds like he might have stretched himself with his later works. Maybe I should give him a chance again.

  5. While I have read some of Grisham's prebious works, I have nit read Gray Mountain. i read your earlier post about Jeffrey Archer and have read all the books to date in the Clifton series. Currenky, I am reading some of James Patterson's series, notably NYPD Red and Private.

  8. we read Horror... short stories (this one is about 90+ pages)...
    it was written over a hundred years ago about a doctor who had meet "Mr. Death" and would see him from time to time ... and Death' would give "tips" to him as well , thus he was living well across Europe ...
    From a collection entitled "Ghostly by Gaslight"....

  9. I've just begun the Ballantyne series by Wilbur Smith, per my husband's recommendation... he adores Mr. Smith's writing. Recently finished Stardance by Spider Robinson, and re-read All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

  11. As (nearly) always, I am parallel-reading one book on my kindle (mainly for trips to and from work) and one physical book in bed, before sleeping. The "bed-book" at the moment is a non-fiction work, "Does Anything Eat Wasps?". The kindle-one is a thriller. I've only read the first few chapters, but it's a very promising start.

    I haven't read a book for the past two weeks. I have been focusing on a puzzle book w/136 puzzles, as soon as i complete that i will read again. I then to ignore my puzzles books so i decided to exercise the mind in a completed different way though I must confess i am going through book withdrawal. I have read 67 so far this year. The last one being a romance The Way You Love Me (The Lawsons of Louisiana).

  37. Besides reading "Dark Witch" by Nora Roberts...it's summer, so I am also rereading Nancy Drew Mysteries on the nice days when I can sit on my swing under our Crab Apple tree. I do this during the summer every year. I used to read Nancy Drew books when I was growing-up. My favorite place to read them was under this huge Willow tree in a field near our home. Even though we do have a nice, huge Willow tree in our yard now (I insisted on planting one 37 years ago), I am to old, now, to sit on the ground under its waterfall of branches. Must make adjustments as we go along in life :)

  42. I find his books difficult to read. Pedestrian I call them. Too much detail for me. I know he's one of the best though. All of us have our own cup of tea where authors are concerned.

  43. Last night I was reading "Clean Gut" by Alejandro Junger. I'm reading a lot of "gut" books lately since I discovered I have the fated candida. How it came about, I'll never know as i've never taken antibiotics but there's a lot of stuff to bring it on. I just want a clean and happy gut again. lol

  51. I read a lot of Grisham's books over the years, but haven't read any of them lately. Sounds like this is a good read, but a little slower than most of his books (I thought A Painted House was slow too). I just finished Bad Monkey and am picking up another book from my TBR pile- but I am not sure what yet. :)

  60. John Grisham is one of my favourite writers, although I do like his earlier stories much better. Right now I'm reading "The Sins of the Father" by Jeffrey Archer. I only started it last night, so I'm not far into it yet.

  66. I read for about an hour a day. I would read for longer but there is too much noise around and I like to be quiet when reading. At the moment I am reading a first (for me) by Jonathan Kellerman. Not too bad but highly detailed which is good since it stops me skimming the words.

  67. I've only read one John Grisham book but I've seen a few film adaptations. It sounds quite different for him. I've nearly finished Part 2 of M Gerrick's War of Six Crowns series. I hope she's hard at work on further installments because I want more!

  75. I just finished reading 'Wings of Fire' an autobiography of our late ex-president and much loved Indian, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and I must say it is very inspiring!

    This book's plot seems interesting too :)
