Quote of the day:
It's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters. -Epictetus
1. I'm Not Strong Enough
A scene played out at a fast food restaurant the other day. Right outside the parking lot, two women stood toe to toe arguing, and within seconds it descended into a full blown fight -with lots of hair pulling and scratching. I happened to be walking on the other side of the street going to this same restaurant, and so I quickened my pace, jogging across the street to try in order to intervene, On getting there, another gentleman also stepped in at the same time, some were were busy filming, including a couple in a car behind. We managed to pull them apart...one of the women had kids in the car. I asked two men nearby why they hadn't stepped forward seeing as they were close enough to help stop the fight.
"I'm not strong enough," said the first fellow.
"I didn't want to get my hands cold," said the other.
2. I Think the Plants and Trees are Confused
The weather confuses the plants and trees. To grow or not to grow? To push through the soil, or wait longer? One week its warm, the next its chilly. Blooming daffodils, sprouting plants and whatnot. Tricking flowers to put on Spring displays. Well played weather, well played.
3. Who Am I?
Daily, a thousand and one thoughts cross over fields of various minds. They build up, crash, and evolve. Every thought has a corresponding feeling. The things that you think about the most- more often than not define your true self. Bring to life great thoughts.
Peace. Love. Light*

good musings
ReplyDeleteLove your musings. Interesting - the scene you found yourself in, the two women, the non-involved men. The last musing resonates with my own thoughts of late - we must take responsibility for what we think, and become.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the visit... From my past life as a teacher in the inner city, breaking up a fight can be very difficult and I ended up with a shoulder injury, It seems that people are so angry that things resort to violence instead of talking... Good thing nobody was really hurt.. but then the kids got to see it..Not good... The plants were confused here for a week as it looked like spring, but now they will be under the snow again.. This is a most interesting idea for a blog and for your posts..I like it...Michelle
ReplyDeleteHow awful to stand and take photos instead of helping....Valerie
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have intervened with the two ladies, either, but I would have called the police. No use getting myself beat up by two women who are aggressive enough to pull each other's hair out!! Poor kids. That's a right good example of adult behaviour they are getting from their mum (assuming they were her kids in the car). And I bet the reason for the argument was completely trivial, such as taking up "her" parking space or something.
ReplyDeleteGreat post my friend! Thank you for sharing your wise ideas with us. Liuba :)
ReplyDeleteHey, great post :)

Those excuses for not stopping the fight seems a bit... lame.
ReplyDeleteInteresting musings!
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for the kids witnessing these women fighting like that. Very poor role models for those young ones...
Great quote. I do my best to live by those words every day.
ReplyDeleteGreat Quote of the Day! it is so true :)

What made me more disheartened was the filming. I have seen it and I find it repulsive. Thanks for the thoughtful post.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
I realized I'm still not following you on GFC so I just did. :)
ReplyDeleteThe weather's crazy here too.
Really interesting post...thx for sharing! xx
ReplyDeleteGood for you for getting involved. : )
ReplyDeleteGreat saying. It shows what our character is by how we react to things.
I like your thoughts....sometimes I wonder what is going on in that brain of mine?
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the two women were fighting about. Perhaps over a parking space. Perhaps over a misunderstanding. Perhaps one was an atheist and the other a Christian. Good on you for your community spirited action - bravely entering the fray.
