Quote of the day:

Metamorphosis has always been the greatest symbol of change for poets and artists. Imagine that you could be a caterpillar one moment and a butterfly the next. -Louie Schwartzberg

A picture of butterflies

The butterfly effect came to mind when writing this piece. The idea of a small cause having a large effect -basically cause and effect. A lone butterfly flew in through my window and decided to stay, hence the idea behind this poem.

What happens when a butterfly flies
Celestially through an open window?
On a hot summer day
Surely a sight for sore eyes

Wings flapping dexterously
Establishing a unique pattern of movement
Both lucid and implausible to the eye
Like a performance by Khatia Buniatishvili

My scrutiny intensifies, and my eyes cognizant
Watching it float across the room
It perched nearby showing off its colours
A dance to secure its rhythm and dominance

What happens when a butterfly flies
The small cause and effect of sudden appearance
Poised to unlock a hidden door to another life
Small change and different outcome despite its size

What significance does it bring forth though?
A possibly prelude, a ripple effect, answers to life
Half way across the world in distant lands
The precision of hopeful wings aglow.

Don't you desire to be a butterfly for a day
To be free to view the world from a vantage point
To glide and weave through obstacles with little or no effort
To be consistent in a world in disarray.

But what a dream, which is far from reality
I am neither a butterfly nor is a butterfly me

What happens when a butterfly flies
It conquers alone
It is not at fault
Perched high and away from prying eyes

Have a nice week!
Peace. Love. Light*
