Too Busy To Live

Quote of the day:
Balance is so important in our lives. In our busy world, we can give ourselves balance between thinking and feeling.
Yakov Smirnoff

We think too much about ourselves sometimes to even bother about other people out there.

We spend a lot of time thinking about what to wear, and how to wear it. About what time to get out of the house in the morning, about how to get to wherever it is that we might be headed to. We think too much about everything that affects us...and so little about things or people that we affect...

When was the last time you picked up your phone-not to chat or play games, but to have a really good conversation with an old time friend, family member or a new friend you just made?

People oftentimes say that they are too busy- with whatever it is they have going on. But how busy can one person get? Are we too busy to have a life...or just too lazy to make an effort i sometimes wonder...

A friend was telling me the other day about the fact that she was always so busy-that she didn't have time for her friends. And i asked her 'busy doing what'?

For a few seconds she went on about being occupied with this and that...while i looked on. Asides going to work-and even closing earlier than most folks, she could not point out what exactly she used the remainder of her time for-but yet she kept telling the people close to her that she was always too busy!

I'm not saying don't be busy...just that there should be a balance somewhere...

Don't be too busy watching out for what is ahead of you, that you don't take time to enjoy where you are...

So next time you tell people that you are always busy, be ready with an answer when they ask 'busy doing what'?

Peace & Love*

  1. There MUST definitely be a balance. I've learned that the hard way, and I'm still learning to find my balance.

  5. busy trying to make ends meet?....*grinning*... MANY leave home by 5.30a.m & come back 10p.m, & IF IT RAINS...SOME get home by 1.00a.m!....saturdays, they are off to work again & sundays, they sleep-in.right now am busy browsing than picking a phone to call because I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY TO ANYBODY!..'How nah?' can lead to the unburden of so much complains on you that one would wonder...'who send me message sef?'..due to the economy, SOME people have become stylish beggars which make MANY people to keep to themselves!....i might sound harsh but this is the reality...am a housewife right?...so i should have time on my hands to be calling since i don't earn a living right?.... W-R-O-N-G!...today i simply refused to do any chores but to have my breakfast, climb back on the bed & sleep till 12pm before i go & bring my son from school by 12.30pm!....am sleep deprived! Don't also forget the western influence....MIND YOUR BUSINESS SYNDROME?....so the answer to that question you rose is...AM BUSY MINDING MY BUSINESS... *smiling*...oh that reminds me....have got to call my dad....lol....gotcha!

  8. this is reality
most people arent really doing anything with their time
like the housewife said, we rae al busy minding our business
Most times calling people leads to unnecessary discussions, that you might like to avoid
at least with the age of the blackberry we can ping hi now and then, and when the convo gets too weird you can ignore.

    that being said
i keep in touch with my friends
they are important to me, so we make out time to hang and touch bases
nothing like time out with the girlfriends :)

    love the post

  17. I completely agree. This summer, I got rid of cable and stopped watching TV. It forced me to have great conversations with my friends. Having deep and meaningful conversations is one of my favorite things to do in the world. Last weekend I cooked for my friends and just had them come over to talk and chill. We had one of the best conversations ever. It was the highlight of my week....we truly need to learn to just step back, and think about others.

  18. Deep Food for Thought....In this day and age when technology has taken over every form of information and communication, one-on-one interraction has sadly, diminished greatly. Although info/tech should not be a substitute for interpersonal interractions, modern-day communication tools viz-a-viz social networking sites have made communication easier. While the anonymity of the internet encourages people to reach out to a larger spectrum of people and enhance their social networking skills, it's good to touch base once in a while with close friends and loved ones... :)
