Hello folks. I'd like to say thank you for all the nice comments in my last post...and glad to know many of you are willing to try out some Jamaican rum!
So, for the week I have picked a book to read, by French-Algerian author Albert Camus. It was first published many years ago, and it is a collection of six stories that depicts people at painful odds with the world around them....

I'm re-reading In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez. If you like books about people in conflict with the world around them, then you should definitely check it out.

ReplyDeleteoh Boy I'm the kind of person who always has a couple of books going, right at this moment i'm reading a J.B. Robb detective series, a book from Advocate series by Theresa Turrell, and one spiritual one, that's called 'What is an angel doing here' one of those books that make you Love, and i will add as much as i can although going out is difficult...

ReplyDeleteI'm actually reading a book for juveniles called Watership Down because someone recommended it. It's very unique.

I just finished The Paris Architect and talked it over with my book club. It leaves for lots of discussion.

I have not heard of this book; I'll have to put it on my list to read after the A/Z challenge is over and I have more time. I am reading a book but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it and don't want to disturb hubby who is still sleeping to go into the bedroom to get it. It is a good one though.

I am currently reading "Why Do Bad Things Happen?" by Gordon Smith.
ReplyDeleteIt is a highly spiritual non-fiction book, that is helping me to come to terms with some negative experiences that I have had at different times in my life.
I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who is currently asking themselves "Why me?"
I will definitely check out the book you mention. It sounds fascinating!

ReplyDeleteThe last book by Camus I read was The Stranger and I haven't read Exile and the Kingdom. I've been steeped in modern fiction lately, so most of my reading is of the here today gone tomorrow variety.

I love to read; I've heard of Camus but have not read his works. I just finished The Chaperone by Laura Moriarity and thoroughly enjoyed it.

That looks like a great book! I'm reading a book my friend bought me called the Truth by Terry Pratchett. It's a light weight fantasy book and quite enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI've always meant to read some Camus, but never got round to it. I've read my fair share of philosophical works via uni work. Currently reading Fraction of Stone by Kelley Lynn, a blogger friend of mine. It's a good YA with some dark patches.
ReplyDeleteI do like existentialist philosophy and have read a little Camus. I'm feeling a little down right now, so I'm going to stay away from him. I'm currently reading a kindle book from Amazon. Can't even remember it's name. But sometimes its nice to just read a simple story. But I do have several books around the house which I pick up every few days - Man of La Mancha, a book of poetry by Pablo Neruda and one by Rumi.

ReplyDeleteI have two books I'm reading. One for about 4 months now and the other for over 15 years! Yes, that's right! I keep forgetting where I am at, taking too long between readings as I[m more addicted to reading the news from multiple sites most days. lol.
ReplyDeleteThe more recent book is called "Cooked" by Michael Pollan. Love his stuff. The longer huge book is "the Fall of Berlin." Both are non fiction which I also prefer..as perhaps you do too?
