This week for my book reading, I've chosen the same author as the last time, but with an entirely different title. Jeffrey Archer's 'Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less' is my choice and it certainly is a page turner I must say. So special thanks to those who made mention of it in my previous book reading post.
Since my last read was just one out of a seven part chronicle (with only 5 published so far), I will attempt to read a new book (not necessarily by Archer) each time I finish a part of the chronicle.

I have just discovered Stella Rimmington novels. I expect Archer writes well but he lost future readers by his rudeness in Australia when interviewed by a respected broadcaster.

ReplyDeleteI've not heard of this book--I'm currently reading N.T. Wright's "Surprised by Scripture", a book based on a collection of essays on Writing Biographies, and rereading Mark Twain's "Roughing It' (which I am currently teaching). I seldom am reading only one book at a time
ReplyDeleteI have read quite a few books from Jeffrey Archer but this is one that I haven't yet. I must look into it because I like his writing. Right now I'm reading 'Only Time Will Tell' from this author. I'm 2/3 of the way through and I'm really enjoying it. If you like Jeffrey Archer's style, you might want to also read 'Kane and Abel', my favourite book from his to date, if you haven't read it yet. Wonderful story.

ReplyDeleteCurrently on my bedside table is a book by Neil Gaiman, "The Ocean at the End of the Lane". When I'm on the train to and from work, I am reading a 19th century work about Phoenician history.

Mr. Archer inspired my love for captivating & intelligently written fiction. I remember both reading the book "Kain & Abel" and watching the film adaptation when I was very young. He is a master story teller.
My latest author crush is Scott Turow, he makes John Grisham look like plain bread. I am currently reading "Presumed Innocent". I'm halfway gone and there are still no clues as to how the story will end, the suspense is making me giddy :-)

I'm finishing Operation Pucker Up by Rachele Alpine, but it's for tweens! We have the same editor and the same agent, so sister loyalty!!! But...bonus, it's a really good book.

I've been reading Mr. Archer's work for a few years and he is a truly brilliant storyteller with the ability to rope you in. His characters have such depth that it's almost as if they are right in the room with you. Glad you're enjoying it! Hugs...Ro

I miss reading just for the sake of reading, all the reading I have done this year has been for exams and I kind of am tired of it.
ReplyDeleteI guess all I can for now is gather the names of books to read once school is over.
I looked it up and it was first published in 1976. This brings back memories. In the '80s and '90s I would buy secondhand books from the '70s and '80s and they were amazing reads. They got me into reading. I also see that some of them have turned into ebooks thanks to companies that publish older titles.

Oh Nice.. Reading the line above reminds me of an "Angelic Evil" in Nigeria.. One that seems like a Robin Hood tale of "Stealing from the Rich and giving to the poor" and i was reminded by it as i read that paragraph.. So permit me to ask...
