I am done with the Archer series for now. Moving on, my current book is by Japanese author Haruki Murakami. If he sounds familiar its because I started reading another book of his in March, although I never did finish the 800 pages to the end, I hope to get back to it at a later date.

ReplyDeleteI'm on page 332 of an 831 page tome...The Familiar by Mark Danielewski. Not sure what it's about besides going to get a medical dog for their daughter who is an epileptic but it's more like channel surfing on TV during the commercials with all these other story lines in the mix. and the main story lines can have 5 sets of parentheses in a single sentence. it's like all the chatter that goes on in your head while you are talking is in there too. crazy and I don't know why I am still reading it.

Someone insisted that I read Murakami. I haven't read his books yet, but I'd like to.
ReplyDeleteLove the quote at the start of this post - last but not least because I have a soft spot for the Sitwell family. One of my favourite houses in one of my favurite places is their house in Scarborough, now a museum.
ReplyDeleteMy reading is still the same as last week, with the addition of a paperback given to me by my mother-in-law while I was on holiday. So, I am parallel-reading three books at the moment, and still have not written the review for the last one I finished.
This book sounds interesting and a take on some bullying and how one copes with it. Being ignored and dropped is a form of bullying. I just finished a book by Peter Bogdonovich about all the famous people he has met. I am now catching up on my archeology magazines

ReplyDeleteI like reading a lot as well, Mr B ... but found every time I contact one of the authors personally ... they turn out 2 b total fools, and not at all what I expected ... last one was: "Confessions of a Love Addict by Jill Williams ... omg, what a disappointment on connecting with her via email ... I know u like 2 c things rosy and positive, B ... sooo ... just sayin, just sayin ... hmmm? ... Love, cat.

Makes me wonder why his friends rejected him, but so often in life we never know the whys. I hope he realized that those people weren't really friends in the first place. :)

ReplyDeleteAre you finding this book sad? It sounds like it, but I hope you make it through it. I am read the Girl in the Spider's Web, which is the newest book in the Millennium trilogy, but this one by a new author since the author of the first 3 books has since passed away.

I will read almost anything. Right now I am reading a novel and re-reading a fantasy series. I like biographies the most. Of course there are the classics and fluffy little easy-to-read books. Put a book in front of me and I will probably read it.

Going to the library on Tues to pick up a book I reserved, Alaert by James Patterson. This is the latest in the Michael Bennet series. It shiuld be a fast dead, like most of his books.

ReplyDeletei have read a couple of Murakami too but i just can't remember the titles now. currently, i've just completed Proof of Heaven, compiling the near death experience of a neurosurgeon by Eben Alexandeer and another book, Do No Harm, stories on neurosurgery by Henry Marsh.
