The homeless population in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, has reduced to the barest minimum (Pictured above-a homeless native couple). This is thanks in part to the Canadian city's new policy that mandates housing for anyone who's spent close to 2 weeks in a shelter or on the streets. It has become the first city in Canada to officially end homelessness, by adopting the “Housing First” plan, whereby homeless people are first given a place to live, before tackling the underlying causes of their homeless.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are 285 million people worldwide living with low vision and blindness. A California-based organization, the Seva Foundation, has been working tirelessly for decades to eradicate this global issue, helping people in more than 20 developing countries around the world. On October 8 -World Sight Day, Seva -inspired by Sanskrit word for “service”, is celebrating by providing sight to its 4 millionth patient.
