3 Movies With Brilliant Quotes

Quote of the day:

And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.
-Roald Dahl

I had hoped to watch some old movies this week. By old I mean movies released before 2015 that I never got the chance to see. So far I  have gone through a few whose trailers I will share below. I will also share my favourite quotes in each movie. Enjoy!

1. The Intouchables (French movie, released in 2012)

After he becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident, an aristocrat hires a young man from the projects to be his caretaker.
Favourite quote: Hope well and live well.

2. Hummingbird (2013)

A damaged ex-special forces soldier who is homeless and on the run from a military court martial, navigates London's criminal underworld after seizing an opportunity to assume another man's identity.
Favourite quote: You've got a knife? I've got a spoon.

3. Jobs (2013)

The story of Steve Jobs' ascension from college drop-out into one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century.
Favourite quote: How can somebody know what they want... if they've never even seen it?

What movies have you watched this week?

11 Things I Love About Life and Living

Quote of the day:

We are sun and moon, dear friend; we are sea and land. It is not our purpose to become each other; it is to recognize each other, to learn to see the other and honor him for what he is: each the other's opposite and complement. -Hermann Hesse

These are the eleven things that I love about life.

1. I like certain things the way they are...
2. I like when people stand for something because of their belief system or personal principles.
3. I like raindrops even though umbrellas aren't my thing.
4. I love to see lightening unleashing itself through the skies.
5. I love life
6. I love laughter.
7. I love awkward moments.
8. I like mismatched socks.
9. I like getting lost in a good book.
10. I like staying awake with a thousand thoughts dancing before my eyes.
11. And I love the fact that nothing is permanent and that beauty lies in change.

What I'm Reading Right Now (5)

Quote of the day:
Books wrote our life story, and as they accumulated on our shelves (and on our windowsills, and underneath our sofa, and on top of our refrigerator), they became chapters in it themselves.
-Anne Fadiman

My first and current read for the month of May is British novelist J.K. Rowling's crime debut (writing as Robert Galbraith) and titled 'The Cuckoo's Calling'.

The story revolves around the death of a model who fell from her balcony, it is assumed she committed suicide, however the brother thinks otherwise and calls a private detective to investigate...

So tell me, what book are you reading?

She inhabited his subsistence.
The very moment he accepted her flaws.
Past and present entwined in a sleepy cleanse.
She was ready to live without any laws.

He didn't have much to offer.
So he gave her the word blossom.
So she could imitate the flowers in her garden.
And not spend her days lonesome.

And so they ran away from humanity.
She put aside her timidity in obedience.
Embracing new boldness to last till eternity.
Two Lonely figures covered in radiance.

Not All Debts Are Equal (You Owe No one)

Quote of the day:
An honest man is a debtless man, he doesn't owe anyone anything.
Amit Kalantri

We are all debtors in life- we've all but walked down the dark path of being indebted to an individual or institution- tied down till the last repayment is squeezed out. But as soon as one debt is payed, a new one arises.

Sometimes we get chased by debtors, and other times we do the chasing. If you've ever given out a loan and had to practically fight to get it back, you'd understand. But I digress...

In essence there are always debts to be repaid. You may owe people or vice versa, but you don't owe anyone for living the life that you have chosen for yourself. You owe it to yourself to be a success, to dream, to fall down many times and get up as many times too. You don't owe anyone for the path that you have chosen, the goals that you have owe no one any explanation on your looks, religion, taste, your sex life, your honesty, your race, your passions and life experiences.

We are all debtors in life. But there are some debts we don't owe.
